How do I fire the public defender that has been appointed to my case regarding a felony?

The easiest way to get a new attorney is to hire one. Outside of that, you can only get a new free attorney if the Judge determines that there is an irretrievable breakdown in communication. You'll have to set a motion. Ask your current lawyer how to do that.
