old felony conviction
I was convicted of a class c non violent felony 12 years ago. I want to purchase a shotgun to hunt with. How do I petition the court to remove the conviction from my record or can I purchase a shotgun regardless?

You must file a petition in a superior court. Some courts provide forms for restoring firearm rights. Be advised that there are forms that are outdated and possibly require more of you than the applicable statutes.
In many counties you will be required to pay a filing fee of $110. In others, you can file the petition under the old criminal case number.
You can determine whether you qualify for restoration of firearm rights by visiting the following website: www.washrecord.com
Once your firearm rights have been restored, a copy of the order must be sent to the FBI. After your criminal records have been updated to reflect that your rights have been restored, you should be approved by NICS.
Finally, be advised that vacating your conviction does not restore your firearm rights. You must specifically petition for restoration of firearm rights.
