filing a civil suit for stolen property in which state?
My ex-boyfriend took items out of our mutual residence in MT and has them in a storage unit and refuses to give them back. I have filed theft charges with no luck, what can I do now to get the returm of the items or get compensation for them and other personal debts?

The only State you mention is MT so that's likely the appropriate state. You'd need to consult with a MT lawyer to be certain about their jurisdiction.
