Re: Firearms rights restoration

If prohibited**, you will need to file a petition to restore your right to possess firearms pursuant to RCW 9.41.040(4).

You may be able to find forms by using the search terms "restore right possess firearms county". Some clerk's offices provide forms. If you find forms in a county other than Kitsap, just change the name of the county. Review the statutes to ensure the forms are sufficient.

Do not use forms entitled "Certificate of Rehabilitation".

You will also need with a dismissal restoring civil rights or a certificate of discharge to be clear under federal law.

If you are told that you must schedule a hearing and wish to avoid traveling and appearing in court, it may be beneficial for you to retain an attorney to handle the matter for you.

**Certain felony convictions, for which the offender received a dismissal, do not result in a firearm disability.
