Re: can you help?

First, go to a Colorado DMV office and ask if you can get a DL and if not, why. They will give you a printed sheet that explains what needs to be done. If they say there is a hold from another state, get the specific information about that hold and what needs to be done to fix it.

Sometimes, it is just a warrant fee of $30, sometimes it is worse.

IF Colorado DMV will give you a license, then you are done. IF not, you might want to call me for more info.

Re: can you help?

That's a good question. I recommend contacting a defense attorney in the area near the court. They will be able to check the other probationary conditions, in addition to the fine, that must all be satisfied to clear up the issue with your driver's license. It is possible for a court to pull fines out of collections if you can present a good explanation for why you could not pay at the time. In King Co. the limit is usually set at one year after going to collections. Spokane likely varies. However, you should ask and maybe not need to pay the full amount the collection agency is asking. I do not know attorneys in the Spokane area. You can contact the Washington State Bar Association for information.

Good luck with your case and your new profession.

At your service,
