Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

3-day waiting period for marriage license

I read that when a couple applies in person for a marriage license, the license is issued at the time it is issued but is not valid for 3 days. I am wondering about mail in applications. My fiance and I are mailing in our marriage license application, and it says we have to pick up our license in downtown Seattle. I am wondering if there is also a three day waiting period after we pick it up, or if because we mailed it in, is it immediately valid. We are getting married in Washington, the marriage license is going to be from King County.

Re: 3-day waiting period for marriage license

The 3 day period begins when the license is issued. See the issue date on the face of the license. That will be the date that will control.
