Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

I am in an abusive relationship in WA state and I am looking to flee the state with my four children ages 11, 9, 4, and 2. I am planning to go to NV to stay with my parents. Is this illegal and what recourse could my husband take against me if it is?

Thank You For Your Time,

This can be a complicated issue and is likely very fact specific. You should review the statute for custodial interference (RCW 9A.40.060/070) as that may apply depending on the specifics of your case. It would likely be of great benefit to meet with a local family law attorney to discuss the case in more detail as it would be important to know the status of your marriage (have dissolution or separation proceedings commenced, a parenting plan in place if so, is there a No Contact Order in Place protecting your and/or your children from Domestic violence). All of these issues are items to consider in responding to your question.
