It depends on how long the child has been in Colorado. If it has been less than six months, and the child lived in Washington originally, then you can bring an action here with a Washington lawyer. On the other hand, if the child has been in Colorado more than six months, or has never lived in Washington if under six months old, then you will need a Colorado attorney and the case will be dealt with there.
