Child Support

Can I get the interest added to my back child support removed and or can the custodial parent that is the reciever of judgement have the debt released

Unless you are within 10 days of having the judgment awarded by a family law commissioner, you cannot have it "removed." The proper term is whether you can appeal the ruling to have it "overturned."

As for the judgment creditor (the parent in whose favor the judgment was granted) can allow you to avoid payment by signing what is known as a "Satisfaction of Judgment." If the judgment creditor just tells you not to worry about it, they won't pursue it, you are a fool if you take their word. Without the Satisfaction of Judgment, they can change their mind at any time for many years to come (depending on certain facts in the case) and when lots of interest has mounted, come after you at that point.

So remember, the Satisfaction of Judgment is key. You need to have them sign it, then file it with the court clerk, and get a certified copy for your records, just in case.
