Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Choosing a last name for a child with unmarried parents.

I just had a son, his father and I aren't married. We would like our son to have his grandmother's last name. Is there any law that states my son has to have the same name as my fiance or myself. Can he take the name of his grandmother?

Yes you can choose an alternate last name for your son. This is a relatively simple procedure. If you need help doing it, give my office a call, or drop me a line.
