Re: What is CR2-A?

You can read it at: http://www.courts.wa.gov/court_rules/?fa=court_rules.display&group=sup&set=CR&ruleid=supcr02A

The full text of the rule is: RULE 2A, STIPULATIONS "No agreement or consent between parties or attorneys in respect to the proceedings in a cause, the purport of which is disputed, will be regarded by the court unless the same shall have been made and assented to in open court on the record, or entered in the minutes, or unless the evidence thereof shall be in writing and subscribed by the attorneys denying the same."

You may also want to check the local rule for your county to see if they have any additional requirement or procedure. For a list of the local rules sites, see http://www.courts.wa.gov/court_rules/?fa=court_rules.local&group=superior

Re: What is CR2-A?

CR2A stands for Court Rule 2A, which deals with settlement agreements reached by parties in litigation. A "CR2A Agreement" settles some or all the outstanding issues before a superior court in Washington and is binding in the same manner a contract is binding.

Once they are entered into, they are difficult for parties to wiggle out of unless there is a defect in the way they were reached.
