Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

family law (visitation)

If there is a court order granting my children's father visitation, do I have to force them(the children) to go visit with him when they are pleading with me not to make them go? And in doing this, isn't it causing harm to the children?

Re: family law (visitation)

Violation of a court order makes the person violating it liable for contempt. If you don't want to continue with the order or you believe it is harming the children, you should file for a modification (and probably a motion for temporary orders) rather than simply not send the children for the father's residential time (you will probably want to request appointment of a GAL or an FCS parenting evaluator) to collect the childrens' reasons. Your statement will be given limited weight unless corroborated.
