Giving up parental rights

My ex is remarried and wants to have our son's last name changed. What are the steps to getting this done?

Why would you agree to this? The State (FL or WA) is not going to approve this unless or until you have a new spouse who is willing to step up and help support your child.

Names are not as critical as support. Is your ex paying support? If not, why not? Are you the person paying support?
