Living with a member of the opposite sex for 15 years

After living with a member of the opposite sex for 15 years, what are both parties entitled to when they break up?

In Washington, a 15-year cohabitative relationship such as yours is considered a meretricious relationship.

Either party may petition the court to dissolve the meretricious relationship similar to a dissolution of marriage (divorce). The court will divide the assets and liabilities in a just and equitable manner. If there are children of the relationship, a parenting plan (custody and visitation schedule) and child support provisions will be established as well.
