Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Nasty lesbian ''divorce''

My ''wife'' and I bought a house together. She had some outstanding debt so the entire mortgage has been put in my name. She is the primary breadwinner. Both of our names are on the title of the house. I don't want to be in this relationship anymore, but any time I try and discuss this with her she doesn't want to talk about it. I want her to either get out of the house and I pay for it...or keep the house and she pay for it but she doesn't want me to leave. Is there anything I can do? I fear if I leave her I'll be financially ruined for the rest of my life yet I am so miserable I'm starting to hate her. There are children involved as well..Thank you for any advice you may have.

Re: Nasty lesbian ''divorce''

There is as you suggest no divorce process for non-marital relationships, but there are some processes and rules similar to those for divorce. Addressing the property-debt division may be the simplest part of the process for a court. Children confront the court with a more complex issue. Depending on who is the biological parent, how involved the other adult has been with the children and for how long will have an effect on what a court may do about continuing to support that "non-parental relationship." Do not expect the court to spontaneously set up rules for such a relationship, one of the adults would have to ask for the court to address this issue.
