Paternity rights from an extramarital affair

I had an extramarital affair, am now pregnant and do not know who the father is. My husband and I are prepared to raise this child as our own. If the father turns out not to be my husband, does the man have any parental rights to the baby?

Re: Paternity rights from an extramarital affair

I'd recommend that if you and your husband want to raise the child as his child, then don't try to find out who the father is.

There is some vulnerability as to paternity issues in this type of situation. How vulnerable may depend on simple factual matters: Does the other possible father have a prospect of seeing you or the child and would he be interested in asserting paternity.
