Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

pregnancy

i recently found out i was preganant by a high ranked soldier in the military (he is not married). we talked about having a baby but know that i am he wants me to get an abortion. i can not do this i told him. can he give up his legal rights just to get out of paying child support? he told me to call him in 9 or 10 months when i have the baby and he also said that he wants nothing to do with our baby. he said that he can't afford child support at this time and that's why he wants me to get rid of the baby. how would i go about finding out his ssn if he doesn't want me to talk to him? not sure what i need to do know since he wants no contact with me. doesn't he still have to pay child support even if he doesn't sign the birth certificate? not sure how i will be able to get any information from him since he doesn't want to talk to me.

Re: pregnancy

If you are pregnant by a person, and it does not matter if he is in the military, the parents are both responsible for supporting the child. Paternity may have to be established by litigation if he does not sign an acknowledgment of paternity (the answer comes out in the genetic testing). You don't need his social security number at this point, but if you think he may be reassigned (out of the State of Washington) before the child is born you should consider filing the paternity action and getting him served here, before he is reassigned, once the court has jurisdiction, you can get court orders to enforce discovery (of genetic information for proof of paternity and financial information for child support).
