Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Seperating a Spousal Consolidation loan after divorce?

I have been divorce for almost two years. I thought my ex had the student loan all figured out. I went to buy a house and she is in deferment, meaning it shows on my credit. She owes them over 50,000. and I only owe 14,000. However, the student loan place will not let me pay on just my part. How can I get it seperate so I can pay mine off and buy a house and get it taken care of?

A significant question would be, was the loan acquired before you were married or while you were married? If it was started while you were married it may be very difficult to move off your credit. The other big question is whether it is Department of Education or a private agency you are dealing with at this point? There are a few programs out there to assist student loan repayments.
