Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

false restraining order

I recently fell in love with a lady in the middle of a devource, her soon to be ex-husband is threatening to file a restraining order against me for causing his son to have a bloody lip. The accusation is false. I have never been accused of such a thing, what can I do to protect myself from these false accusations, or to stop the restraining order. thanks

Re: false restraining order

You will have to attend a court hearing regarding the accusation. At the hearing you can offer testimony and other evidence that the accusation is false. If the judge rules in your favor, the order will be quashed or dismissed. You can also ask for a restraining order against the ex husband. You may want to agree to a mutual restraining order that keeps you and the ex-husband apart, without agreeing to the accusation. That may be the smart way to go.
