Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

someone hit my car while I was at work

I'm a job coach for people w/ develop mental disabilities. Client I was training works at the grocery store. During that shift, someone with a white vehicle had hit the driver side. My car is black. I didn't notice the it until I got home. I went back to the store & told the manager. Manager reviewed the tape & said he could not see cars that were not parked close to the parking lot. I went back out & noticed clean new white mini van w/ a rear passener side bumper black line mark which matched were it would have hit my car. I went back into the store & told the manager. Another manager stated he has a white mini van w/ black mark on it & he stated he didn't hit my car. My thinking is an employee had hit my car and that employee is might be a manager at that store. Is there anything I can do???

Re: someone hit my car while I was at work

Your first obligation is to report this to your insurance company. Include as much information about the vehicle you believe may have hit your car as you possibly can. Whether or not the other manager represented to you that he did not hit your car is not dispositive, it can either be proven that the collision occurred or disproven that the other manager's car hit your car.

The big question right now is whether you have PIP coverage on your auto insurance policy. If you do, just report the collision and let your insurance company do their thing.

Hope this helps, Elizabeth Powell
