Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

Squatters

My husband and I own a piece of property, a couple of months ago we went to check on the land and found people living there. We told them to get out and they gave us a sad story, so we let them stay until June 1st, now they say they will not get out and they can stay 90 days

Re: Squatters

You likely should report to the police or sheriff where the property is that you have trespassers on your land.

The law enforcement agency may decline to do anything and advise you to go through eviction proceedings.

In that case, you will need to go through eviction proceedings.

The WA landlord and tenant statutes are available here: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?Cite=59 .

You may have to hire an attorney if you are too far away to take care of the problem yourself.
