Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

unlawful harassment

We have an unlawful harassment order along with two other families in our nieghborhood against another family. Members of this family have made violent threats and verbal harassement against several people in the nieghborhood. The landlord (also the sister of the woman living there) has half-heartedly started the eviction process (they have not payed rent in the 2 1/2 years they lived there). This family has broken many of the covenants from the property title. What options do we as a nieghborhood have to get rid of these people. Since they moved in the police now consider there house a drug/gang house but seem helpless to do anything. Since they do not hold jobs they seem to get free legal advice. What can we do? Can we sue the owener or the people living there to make them move or leave us alone? Please help this is destroying our nieghborhood and having an adverse effect on all our families.

Thanks

Bad neighbors are a nuisance

Look at Chapter 7.48A RCW Moral Nuisances http://leginfo.leg.wa.gov/pub/rcw/title_07/chapter_048a/ Also Chapter 7.48 RCW, Nuisances http://leginfo.leg.wa.gov/pub/rcw/title_07/chapter_048/

These chapters are a start. You might also sue the landlord for allowing violation of the covenants. If your homeowners association is not viable, I suggest you look at the covenants, call a meeting and elect officers. Then use as much muscle onm the landlord and her deadbeat family as you can.

You might contact a lawyer. If you are in the Puget Sound area, we'd be happy to help.
