Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

Four wheeler damage

I have a 14 year old daughter who went over to a friends house and ran their four wheeler into a tree. I did say that she could ride the four wheeler. The incident happened on their property. She was not seriously injured but I did take her to the doctor to make sure she did not break anything. She just has a stiff back. Who is legally responsible for the damage done to the four wheeler?

Re: Four wheeler damage

You are her parent, you are responsible for her conduct and the results thereof.

The owner of the four wheeler and the property also has a duty of care regarding their property, your child's injuries and their tree.

As your daughter was injured on their property, they may wish to consider tendering this issue to their insurance carrier. The damaged four wheeler *may* be the least of their concerns.

I would strongly recommend that you consider discussing this with a lawyer who handles personal injury matters, and particularly premises liability issues.

Hope this helps. Powell
