Legal Question in Immigration Law in Washington

Green Card Pending

Hi, I came to US on a valid visa, Student Visa for 5 years. On the very first year I married, and my wife is a US Citizen. At my interview officer asked me to present more docs, wheras I had every possible document -- combined insurance, her last name changed everywhere, even ssn. Same address ets. You can call that a proper file. It is a typical Indian arrange marriage. We were married in seattle. The officer said, send me more docs by mail. Since our docs were alomst completed we selected important papers from it and forwarded to immigration. Now its more than 6 momths and we have got a reply that It took more than usual please wait for another 6 months. -----What should I do, except for waiting. Help would be really appreciated. Please guide.

You could hire a lawyer now to review your submission and see if anything is missing that can be supplemented. There are some delay issues for which you can bring a lawsuit--the expense of that is often a deterrent.
