Legal Question in International Law in Washington

Internationall law/immigration

I'm a permanent resident/GC holder and my nationality is UAE. I've been living in the US for 9 years. My UAE passport just got expired, so I mailed it to UAE for renew cuz the UAE consulate here doesn't do that. Anyways, they refused to renew because they had me blacklisted for not paying off debts. Unfortunitly UAE doesn't have a bankruptcy Law to protect the individual and if he/she doesn't have the money to pay they throw him/her in jail to be with all kind of criminals until some miracle happen and the loan get paid. My question is : Will that effect my immigration status in the US as a green card holder? I can't go back to UAE because I'll get arrested at the airport for that plus when they come to know that I married a Christian man they might arrest me for adultery since It's a muslim country and according to sharia a muslim woman can only marry a muslim male and might be taken advantage of by male officers.

I will be treated with no respect and might face jail for that too. No one can question the government there or open his mouth or will be tortured in some unknown place, no real Justice there and I just can't afford to loose my two beautiful American kids. Is there some Law in the US that can help people i

Re: Internationall law/immigration

I'm not a specialist in immigration law; you really need someone who knows what they're doing. I do know there is a provision in US immigration law that prevents someone from being deported if they have a "well-founded fear of persection" if they return to their home country. Only an immigration lawyer can tell you if that would apply here; but my suggestion is that you get some advice before your green card expires. The local bar association in your city may have a lawyers' referral service and perhaps you can find a good immigration lawyer there. Sometimes there are volunteer attorneys who will help out if you can't pay for a lawyer.

Standard disclaimer: The comments above are based on limited facts and should not be considered legal advice. We do not have an attorney-client relationship. That said, good luck to you.
