Re: age of consent law

I am not licensed in Washington. I will attempt to answer the part of the question that I believe I can answer, but you should not rely on this answer and should seek advice directly and in person from a criminal practitioner in Washington state.

The military, which is fond of funny sayings, has one that fits here: close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

The fact that you are still 15 means that under the law your boyfriend would commit statutory rape if he had sex with you. I am not familiar enough with Washington law to know if parental consent is a defense under the statute, but I would be willing to bet that it is not unless the parental consent is to marriage. Sex between married couples where one party is a minor is not generally thought of as statutory rape, but it would be a good idea to seek a legal opinion from a lawyer in Washington State about this issue.

If you are 15 and your boyfriend is 25, there is an issue in my mind as to the propriety of the relationship as a whole. I would suggest you seek counseling in this regard too.
