Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

Employer negligence for work injury?

I was a custody officer and injured by a violent inmate harboring cocaine during an ordered shakedown for reported weapons/drugs.

As always, we had tremendous overcrowding and he was one of many bedded on the floors rather than cells.

I've had two major surgeries. They terminated me as an officer for my current condition while on temporary disability.

The department and county has often been warned that not addressing constant overcrowding is a safety and liability risk.

Is negligence worth investigating?

Yes, you should investigate this type of matter immediately. However, I do not practice in this type of tort area or personal injury. You should find an attorney in either Everett or Seattle that has made claims and won against county and state government for this type of matter. You probably will have to go to a law firm that does both tort, i.e., personal injury, and government claims.
