Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

Tort Civil lawsuit to collect emotional damages

I was criminally harassed resulting in a gross misdemeanor by the defendant. I have been told that there is a tort involved (I think that's what it was) and that I could file a civil lawsuit to collect emotional damages.

Is it a personal injury lawsuit or civil harassment lawsuit?

It would be a personal injury (or tort, which is a civil wrong) lawsuit, and you would probably have only three years to bring the lawsuit, though some time periods can be shorter.

There is also a civil anti-harassment order you could get, but there os probably that same (or stronger) protection in the criminal case.
