Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

Uninsured motorcycle registered to me, involved in collision

I loaned my friend funds to purchase a motorcycle. The vehicle was registered in my name but not insured. He was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Drivers agreed at the scene to pay for thier own repairs. Neither registered owner was present at the scene. Police were not called, unknown to me at the time, neither driver posessed a valid drivers license, no citations were issued, the wife of the other driver later filed an accident report. Four months have passed, no prior response from her insurance company, to the letter & copy of the accident report I sent outlining the ''questionable circumstances''. Her insurance is now demanding payment for complete damages. Can I be held 100% liable under these circumstances by merely being the registered owner?

Are you responsible for property damage to another just because you are the registered owner of a vehicle, not the driver involved in the crash? NO. The only person liable for damages if there's no insurance on your car is the driver. You say you loaned money to the driver and put the rig in your name. That was dumb. Your friend will owe you the money you gave him but your not liable for any of his crashes-he is.
