Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Washington

Finding An Attorney

I was previously employed by a man that I rent a lot from as well. I quit my job due to his sexual advances ( at work as well as at my home) and told his wife of the matter. They have both harrassed me ( due to the man's denial ) and have tried to make me move my home off of the lot that I rent. My question is: Where can I find an attorney to file sexual harrassment charges against him? I have searched ( and he and his wife both know that I am wanting to file against him, which is why he is trying to have me removed from the property).I cannot find an attorney that will help the victim..they all want to represent the accused. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Finding An Attorney

You can contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, with an office in Seattle, or the Washington State Human Rights Commission. Both agencies should be listed in the government section of your telephone book. For a list of attorneys who represent individuals in employment cases, you might want to consult the National Employment Lawyers Association, at http://nela.org Click on the "find a lawyer" tab and search for lawyers in your area.

You must also be aware that you have only a limited amount of time to commence an action against your former employer. Act promptly. If you delay, your rights may be lost forever. Engage the services of a lawyer immediately.

NOTE: The above does not constitute legal opinion and is offered for the purposes of discussion only. The law differs in every jurisdiction, and you should not rely on any opinion except that of an attorney you have retained, who has a professional duty to advise you after being fully informed of all the pertinent facts and who is familiar with the applicable law.

Good luck.
