Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Washington

Sexual harassment

My future landlord is beginning to insist on having sex in exchange for help he has given me. When i first met him he took me to dinner and offered to help because he said ''everyone needs help sometimes.'' i was really beginning to like him until he began saying he might not be able to rent the house i was supposed to move into because i missed a sex date. I started crying and told him i didn't realize sex was what he expected for his help. I feel so dirty and ashamed. I thought he was helping me because he has feelings for me. I only have a week to get moved and he knows that. If i don't do what he wants me and my three children won't have a home. What can i do?

Call CLEAR. They help low-income people with housing and legal problems. I can't put phone numbers in here, but CLEAR stands for Coordinated Legal Education, advice and Referral. You can also call your local county bar association and ask to speak to a pro bono attorney.

In what way are you trapped? Why can't you rent somewhere else? Have you already given the landlord some money?
