Legal Question in Tax Law in Washington

ending a contract

what rights does the client have to end a contract with an attorney? Two years ago I notified in writing that I would no longer use an attorney but now received a bill because the IRS contacted them directly.

Re: ending a contract

As a Tax attorney, I sympathize with both you and your former attorney. It is important that when the attorney is contacted, he protected your rights. You should call the attorney, discuss the matter, and resolve it. If you are so offended they helped you, you can ask them to vacate the charge. Also, ask them to "Revoke" the Power of Attorney filled with the IRS.

I hope this helps!
