Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

fail to read sign/ Deferal

I live in Washington

1) I got a ticket today for exiting and exit only lane. I saw a sign that my exit was 2 1/2 miles away. So I merged all the way over to the right. I realized the far right lane was an exit only so I merged one lane to the left. I didnt cut anyone off and it was right after the first exit only sign. an officer waved me over to the side of the road to write me a ticket. I didnt really know where i was going i was driving my own car to pick up some parts for work. Is this worth contesting?

2) My second option is to defer my ticket but I know you cant have any traffic violations for the past three years. I had a ticket for no motorcycle endorsement is that a non moving violation or a traffic violation? I cant remember it was like a year ago Can anyone help me

Thanks Adam

Re: fail to read sign/ Deferal

You really should fight this ticket. Adeferral will only be availabe if the court your ticket is to be adjudicated in offers that option. Cascade District Court does not. You shoul dspeak to someone like me who has substantial traffic experience (25 years) and is in court on these matters often. Call me if you need help.
