Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

No investigation for traffic accident

In May 2002 my husband had a motorcycle accident. He had a malfunction on his motorcycle from a hand grip holding the throttle open. Two cars hit him but both left the scene. The police officers on duty did not follow protocol and have an accident investigation done. Later we found out it was due to ''personal conflict'' with the investigators on duty. He is now left permanently disabled - two people responsible for hitting him are not held accountable and the manufacturor has long since improved the hand grip that malfunctioned. Is it too late to sue the City for not following procedure by investigating the accident? Do we need to have the bike in its wrecked condition as proof?

Re: No investigation for traffic accident

This situation is far more complicated than appears on the surface. You may have a claim against the motorcycle manufacturer, the city and the two motorists. Did the handgrip malfunction cause the accident? You really need to call me for a no charge consultation to discuss the various aspects of this case. Also, the more proof you have the better. I hope you still have the wrecked cycle. Did the police ever get any license numbers from the other two vehicles? What was the origin of this "conflict" between your husband and the police investigators?
