Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

traffic accident

what is my recourse involving a accident where I was deemed in violation. I was attempting to turn left over a two lane. I went to court and decided to take the deferred sentence. Now the opposing motorist's insurance is suing. My driving privilege is being threatened. i have no money to pay for a defence attorney. I don't believe I was at fault. i want to have it tried. No witnesses, and the police report id bias against me. Yet the damaged areas portray my version as most likely. how should I proceed?

Re: traffic accident

Turn this lawsuit over to your OWN insurance company immediately, and they will hire a lawyer to represent you in that lawsuit. That's what you pay insurance for.

In many jurisdictions, what happens in traffic court -- at least the final judgment in the matter -- may not be binding as to fault in the civil case such as you now face. But to be sure, explore this with your lawyer.

If you were for any reason NOT insured for this accident, I would urge you to hire a lawyer to at the very least advise you what you may or may not be up against.

Good luck to you.
