i was in a car accident, that i was test driving

i was in a car accident that i was test driving.The owner of the car didnot have any auto issurance.I was cited for the accident.The owner of the car has now filed a case for claims of damage to the car.

Is'nt it illegal to let someone drive u r car without insurance on the car?

She was trying to cheat all buyers who wud be test driving her car,without havin issurance on the car.

First, if one does not have car insurance, he may allow someone else to drive his car as long as that person has insurance that covers the driver when driving other cars. (most standard insurance policies provide this coverage)Thus, as long as you had a valid liability insurance policy in effect no mandatory insurance laws were violated by either you or the owner.

Second, even if the owner did have insurance, you would still be liable for the damages your negligent driving caused to his car. You should contact your insurance company to see if your policy will cover the damges.
