Legal Question in Banking Law in Wisconsin

My husband has a mortgage with a small bank and had a savings account with them. Over the three years we have been together we have had some financial ups and downs, the lender in charge the mortgage has personally harassed and attacked him, myself and his family, making personal comments about or character and life choices. Most recently they closed his savings account for being overdrawn and told my husbands mother it was because the FBI was investigating me and that they needed to get a lawyer from my husband and he should separate from me. When we investigated this, we found it to be another lie- there is no FBI Investigation. I at most have a judgement against my company and the law office may be looking into what accounts I have out there, which the bank would be required to inform my husband about anyway. When we asked about this information the bank said he didn't have any information to give us. I knew this was a lie and I called the state FBI office they confirmed it. We have also had bank employees gossip about our financial information to people in the community. I am not even a customer there - just my husband. I want to prosecute him and make the Bank president aware of this situation, this can not be legal- let along ethical or following any code of ethics. WHat are my rights? What are my husbands rights? This has caused family turmoil and stress beyond belief it has also made our financial trust with banks very difficult.

Like all law enforcement agencies, the FBI is authorized to lie to suspects in furtherance of an investigation, so just because the tell you that you are not being investigated does not mean that you are not. Therefore, you probably could never prove that there was not really any investigation going on, as suggested by the bank. Instead, if you are unhappy with this bank, you might consider simply moving your accounts to another, or possibly switch to a credit union.
