Legal Question in Business Law in Wisconsin

What city can we use?

We're starting a new company and have a mailbox at the UPS Store at 6650 W State ST, Wauwatosa, WI 53213.

For marketing reasons, we'd like to use Milwaukee because outside the regional area, we're not sure how many people would know where Wauwatosa was located.

If you look up the address at the USPS web site, it shows valid for both Milwaukee and Wauwatosa.

So can we use Milwaukee as our legal address (tax filings, bank accounts, etc.) or do we need to use Wauwatosa for anything legal and Milwaukee on stationary, business cards and advertising?

Re: What city can we use?

I think the issue is whether or not the items will arrive. Try mailing yourself something listing the address as 6650 W. State St, Milwaukee, WI 53213 and see if it arrives. It probably will.

If you want to advertise as Milwaukee, I do not think there is any issue. However, for registering your LLC etc. I would probably just use your proper address, however for certain types of entities there are requirements for a registered agent, not just a PO box. Basically you have to be able to be found if someone wants to sue you. There are plenty of law firms and other services that proved "registered agent" services. You might want to contact one of them.

Good luck.
