Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin

Warrant

Hi, i just found out that i have a warrant out for my arrest in Wisconsin, after looking at thier online system it appears it was for a bad check that went through the court system. i recieved notice from ADA for the county, signed and returned, however they claim they never got it. How can i resolve with out going to jail if thats possible? thanks!

Re: Warrant

Well, it really won't get resolved until you step before a judge here. To do that, you can either wait to get stopped for a traffic violation in your state (when they'll probably see that you have this outstanding arrest warrant and will take you into custody and begin the extradition process for which, in the end, you might be financially liable) or you can arrange to come to Wisconsin and voluntarily turn yourself in. Choosing the latter option would show that you are taking the lead and taking responsibility, and that would speak well for you in the eyes of most judges and prosecutors here. Either way, though, you will likely spend at least a night in jail after you get booked and wait for your initial appearance in Intake Court. Call me if you'd like to discuss it in more detail.
