''If the person you prank called does not press charges can you still get a fine

If i would prank call a person I know and they call the cops now knowing that it is me. Once finding out that the prank was from me if they do not press charges may the Police still issue a charge or fine?

Regardless of what the "crime" is, the police or the prosecutor have discretion to press charges even if the "victim" is no longer interested in doing so. You are being charged by the state not by the victim.

This happens all the time in domestic abuse cases. The partner who gets beat up almost always backs off on wanting to pursue it. The state almost always pursues it anyway. The "victim" can be forced to testify whether he or she wants to or not.

So don't be surprised if you get charged. In your case it would depend on how busy the cops are with other more pressing matters. It's hard to tell if they would bother with you or not.
