Legal Question in Immigration Law in Wisconsin

my boyfriend was picked up from immigration at work yesterday. My boyfriend was convicted of delivery of cocaine at age 18. he was sentenced to 8 years in prison. he completed his sentenced and he is now currently serving his 8 years of probation. he has kept up to day with his payments and visitings with his probation for almost 3 years. so we cant explain why they would pick him up after 3 years. plus the guy that he was arrested was deported in 2005 why after this time would they do this what can we do is there hope that they would let him stay. we need help i would really appreciate all or any help you could give us. o yeah and the probation officer didn't agree with this and she is willing to testify that he is a good guy and he doesn't deserve what happen to him please help me. thank you
