Hello,

Currently I am in India and my husband works in USA. Soon my H4 visa will get expired.My husband is not in touch with me. Can I apply for H4 visa renewal from India alone. If he do not provide me the required papers or sponsorship approval, then will my H4 visa renewal will be declained?

Yes, that's right. In order for you to aply for a new H4 visa, you need supporting documents from your husband, H-1B visa holder (your H4 visa is a dependent visa, fully depending on his valid status and your marital relationship as his wife).

Hi,

Although your husband will not be required to go to the consular interview with you, the Consulate will not issue you an H4 visa stamp unless you provide evidence that your husband is maintaining his H1B status, such as copy of his passport with his unexpired H1B visa stamp, his H1B approval notice(s), his pay stubs, etc.
