Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Wisconsin

Help! Does this case qualify for malpractice! This would be in regards of my mother. She sees a psychiatrist, her appointments are regular and she fills her RXs normally. I have attended several doctor appointments with her in hopes to clear this. Anyway, the doctor gives me mother 120 1mg xanax and 60 Ambien in which she abuses horribly. When she sees the doctor, it is clear she abuses. Slurred words. She has crashed 2 cars, gotten 2 DUIs, and I've taken her to the ER several times. Today, I counted her pills that she got filled yesterday, she took 43 xanax in 1 day. She has gone into her doctors appointments clearly under the influence of these, to the point where there is noticeable slurred speech. When I attended those appointments with her, the psychiatrist did state to me, that he notices her "impaired state", and agrees that she is heavily medicated and possibly over prescribed. Oh, the psychiatrist also prescribes her Ambien, adderal and an anti depressant.

The psychiatrist did not seem to care, and I am a very frustrated daughter! Nothing has changed and it's been possibly a year since the initial conversation. He is aware she has totalled vehicles due to being under the influence of these medications. Is there anything we can do?!

Those medicines are very addicting, so your mother is not going to come off of them without some help. You need to try to get your mother to a doctor with expertise in weaning people from addictive drugs. If your mother's doctor will not do it, then you should talk to your mother about doing it herself. Things will only go downhill unless something is done to change what has been going on.
