How to collect on renter damage

I had a renter do damage to the property,he has moved, I sent him a bill but no response, what is my next step to get him to pay for the damages he did to the property?

You will probably have to commence litigation.

You should be sure your lease has appropriate language

relating to security deposits and damages, and then

you should proceed.

Collection agencies can sometimes be the best alternative for collecting small amounts. If the amount is large enough to warrant some time and expense, small claims court may be a good option. However, even a judgement from small claims court will not guarenty money in your pocket, espcially if the debtor has none.
