Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Wisconsin

Sexual harassment/discrimination from owner of business

Hello,

I'm new to all of this so I really don't know where to start. I have my family and friends telling me I should contact a lawyer due to my current employer. He has sexually harassed and discriminated me for months and months.

I have kept notes in my monthly planner about dates and times in which my boss (the president of the company) has said such things. I find it very hard to tell him to stop or voice my concern in such situations because I am the only female working for this company.

I have many notes written down lately about him telling me to wear a bikini to work. (We work in an office setting, where this should defiantly not be accepted) Also within the last month he has given all of the male employees a yearly review and raise; Something that I should have been eligible for. When I asked if I was going to receive one the president told me I would If and when he saw fit.

I recently was put on probation but did not sign any documents stating so. The reasoning behind this was because I wasnt getting enough done. I have many times documented where he will come out and talk about his children for long periods of time, hell talk about politics, current news or even the weather. Which, its very hard

Re: Sexual harassment/discrimination from owner of business

You may have claim but there are more questions which need answers, i.e., how long you have worked there, how many employees are there, what you do compared to the men, how severe and pervasive his harassment of you is. You might want to call the Equal Rights Division of the WI Dept. of Workforce Development and file a complaint or set up a consultation with an attorney to explore your situation in more detail.
