Legal Question in Workers Comp in Wisconsin

Uninsured Workmans Comp Problem

The State of WI is coming after me

and my business partner for a large

sum of money, because our

contractor did not meet the 9

requirements the state has to be a

contractor. They deemed him our

employee and now the Company and

ourselves appear to be liable for

500K, due to an injury. They have

stated that they will come after the

LLC and then, once they find that

the company is no longer, they will

find us personally liable. I make 50K

a year and that is it. Is the state

really going to come after me in

another state?? Is there anyway out

of this?? It hardly seems fair. I do

not know what to do, as this will

destroy my entire life. It seems that

WI has covered all the bases and this

will survive Bankruptcy, it will pierce

any and all corporate veils, no

contractor over, etc..etc. any advice

would be great!!

Thanks

Re: Uninsured Workmans Comp Problem

You would appear well advised to arrange for a consultation with an attorney who can review all of the pertinent paperwork and facts

related to Wisconsin's claim and who should then be able to advise you, accordingly.
