Legal Question in Family Law in Wyoming

Alimony or Spousal Support

I was ordered to pay alimony to my ex-wife, in Wy court, she now resides in NC with another man and is employed at the time of our divorce she had not worked in several years, I reside in CA and have remarried. This has been the case for more then 2 years now. Question, is it possible to terminate this alimony payment and thru which court would I apply? and by what means could I prove this to be her situtation. Thank you for your assistance

Re: Alimony or Spousal Support

Does your Divorce Decree terminate your alimony obligation in the event of the death, remarriage, or cohabitation of your ex-spouse? There is likely some language that addresses conditions for the terminations of your alimony obligation. Look to the language of the Decree. In certain circumstances the Court that issued the Decree can consider changed circumstances (usually related to ability to pay) of the parties to modify its original order. Your application for a modification of the existing order would be with the the Court that entered the Decree. Hopefully this helps.
