Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Wyoming

Collecting on a loan made with verbal agreement

My live-in boyfriend of over 2 years borrowed appx $17,000 for school, certification, job search and move to Tacoma, Wa. We had a verbal agreement that he would pay me back. He started and then stopped. Do I have any legal recourse?

Re: Collecting on a loan made with verbal agreement

Sure, you can sue him for $17,000(in Tacoma Washington, if you can find him there.)Better see a Washington attorney first though who can advise you regarding some of the possible impediments in your case which would include the difficulties involved with proving an oral contract and the requirements of the Statute of Frauds(every state has one) which require a writing to prove that certain sums in a particular agreement over a certain amount are in fact owed in order to make the agreement enforceable.
