Franchise Attorney, MBA and franchise expert, known in the industry as Mr. Franchise, Kevin B. Murphy is a San Francisco-based franchise attorney, author, instructor and franchise expert. He has advised hundreds of potential franchise buyers in evaluating franchise investments, buying a franchise and franchise disclosure documents. Mr. Murphy has assisted an equal number of franchise companies (both new and established) in how to franchise and prosper in the franchise industry. In addition to helping companies franchise and advising franchise buyers, he consults with litigation attorneys as a franchise expert. Mr. Franchise has testified in numerous court and franchise arbitration proceedings. As a former franchise owner, he brings a unique and balanced perspective to any assignment he undertakes. Since 1993, he has also been approved by the State Bar of California as a provider of Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) for attorneys. He teaches courses in franchise and distribution law, franchising vs. licensing (franchise vs. license) and related intellectual property matters. Mr. Murphy also owned and operated a very successful franchise in the construction industry. In 2007 he was selected as the premier U.S. franchise expert by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, to speak at Singapore’s World Conference about franchising in Asian countries and developing uniform franchise regulations based on the U.S. regulatory model. The event was hosted jointly by WIPO and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). |
