This is a free service provided by WebSiteBroker, Inc., which owns and operates the LawGuru.com website. There is no cost to submit questions, to receive any possible answers or to look up past questions and answers. Because of the very high number of questions we receive each day, we had to make some rules for using the BBS and for submitting questions and had to write some software to help us handle all the questions. Many Frequently Asked questions about the BBS are answered in our BBS Help Section. These instructions and conditions may seem long, but we made them as simple as possible to understand because we (a) don't want to bore you and (b) we want to make sure you understand exactly how the BBS works, the rules you have to follow, and the limitations of the BBS.
Short Summary
Longer Explanation You will receive an email message from us notifying you if your question is accepted; rejected or replied to. Please understand that not all questions are accepted for posting. Sometimes questions will be rejected because they don't comply with our terms of use or for various other reasons. A list of the types of questions we accept and the types of questions we do not accept can be found in the BBS Help Section. Please also understand that unfortunately not all questions will receive a reply if there are no attorneys in our network who can or are willing to give a reply. Our goal is to try to help everyone who has a legal question either by allowing you to look up past questions or answers or by submitting your own. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try it is not always possible to help everyone. You understand that the attorneys that belong to the network are not affiliated with, employed by or agents of LawGuru.com or WebSiteBroker, Inc. and we make no representations as to the qualifications of any of the attorneys who participate in the LawGuru.com BBS or site or who may provide answers to your question. Any listing, name, content, material of any attorney or law firm found on this site does not constitute any endorsement, recommendations or referral of such attorneys. When deciding to hire any attorney or law firm you should do your own independent research and not solely rely on the materials found on this site. We try our best to ensure confidentiality and protect your privacy when you post questions on LawGuru.com. Your personal information such as name, address, email address, phone, etc., are concealed from ALL USERS of this BBS system, including member attorneys. Only the BBS administrators have access to your personal information. However, you must also understand that you might lose a little bit of privacy by posting your question on LawGuru.com, which is a public forum. In a way posting your question on the BBS is a little bit like calling a radio show with a legal question or sending a legal question to a newspaper to be printed so that you can get an answer. Just like those mediums, although you can stay anonymous, your facts and your view of the facts may not remain a "secret" any longer. Due to the nature of the Internet, you must understand that by giving us permission to post your question on the BBS website, it may risk losing some confidentiality. When an attorney posts a reply to your question, you will receive information on how to contact that attorney directly should you wish to do so. No attorney, except those administering the BBS, will be able to contact you unless you choose to contact them. Please understand that once a question is submitted, it can't be removed from the system. Questions, which do not receive a reply within a certain period of time, will be deleted from the system and users will be notified of the deletion. Furthermore, no follow up information to a question can be submitted after the original question has been sent. Any additional information can be given to any attorney that may have answered a question. You are only allowed to submit no more than one question every 30 days. Remember that no information found at this site, in the database or in the responses from attorneys on the BBS can replace a face to face meeting or telephone consultation with a "real live" attorney about your particular case, problem or question. The information you find here or in the answers should just be a starting point in finding your answers. Nothing transmitted to or from this web site constitutes the establishment of an attorney-client relationship between you or any attorney. If you don't want to submit a question, you can search past questions and answers in many legal categories in the Lawguru.com BBS database. To do so just click on the "Search the BBS" button in the left sidebar. That option will allow you look up past questions and answers, from other users and attorneys, by state, area of law and keywords. The database of questions and answers literally grows by the hour, as questions from people like you are posted and answered by the network of attorneys. Something that may not be in the database today could perhaps be there tomorrow. If "time is of the essence" and/or if you need immediate assistance, you should contact an attorney directly via telephone or in person as soon as possible. You may want to check out the page at http://www.lawguru.com/cgi/bbs/user/findattorney.html for a list of attorneys that handle the type of law your question relates to, that may be able to help you in your area. You can look up attorneys by State or Areas of Law and can even search by keywords. Please note that the above page only provides a listing and does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation of any particular attorney by us. You can also contact your local or State Bar Association for a referral to an attorney that may be able to help you or you can try to find an attorney through your local phone book. WebSiteBroker, Inc or LawGuru.com is not liable for any direct or indirect damages suffered as the result of the content and replies found on LawGuru.com or through the use of the LawGuru.com site. One of the goals of the BBS (besides hopefully providing an answer to a question you may submit) is to create a very large database of legal questions and answers that anyone can look up. Therefore, in order to submit your questions, you must agree to grant WebSiteBroker, Inc. LawGuru.com, its affiliates and partners a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right (including any moral rights) and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, communicate to the public, perform and display the content (in whole or in part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed, for the full term of any Rights that may exist in the content of a question that is submitted to us. This is similar to the rights you might give a newspaper if you send them your legal question to be published in their newspaper.
